  3. Girl, 4, reunited with family after possible communications mix-up
Justice isn’t something that we can always count on. Four-year-old Emily Ruiz flew first class from Guatemala to the United States Wednesday for a cheerful reunion with her mom, dad and younger brother. Her lawyer said that they treated her like loyalty; he said that one security officer called her the Princess of Miami. The royal treatment and happy ending came nearly three weeks after the girl, a U.S. citizen, was unable to re-enter the United States because of a possible communication mix-up. When her grandfather accompanied her on a flight back to the United States March 11, a officer at Dulles International Airport in suburban Virginia stopped him for an immigration violation dating back about 20 years, the lawyer said. This placed Emily in a very difficult spot. According to her family, immigration officials gave her parents two options: Emily could be sent to Guatemala with her grandfather, or she could be turned over to state custody. She returned to Central America. After a few weeks Emily came back with her family and there was a happy ending after all.

  4. Prince William chooses wedding cake made of cookies
    By: Max Foster, CNN
This article is about how Prince William wants to change a tradition of changing their traditional cake for a cookie cake. Prince William and bride-to-be Kate Middleton's wedding may be full of all the pomp and ceremony of a traditional British state occasion, but when it comes to their wedding cake. Besides they've taken their inspiration from the United States. Prince William has personally requested a "groom's cake" made of cookies and chocolate to be served alongside the couple's official wedding cake. The groom's cake is a wedding tradition associated with the southern United States. Prince William and Kate Middleton' at the Buckingham Palace reception on April 29 will be able to choose between the "chocolate biscuit cake," as it is commonly known in the UK, and a classic fruitcake.

The ornate features of Buckingham Palace will be reflected on the cake, but most of the decorations will be floral, and each has a meaning. Another opportunity to spent and to show the power of the royal family, only important people will be invited to this grate event.

Holger Kragh wanted to take his coat off during a walk in the woods. His mother wouldn't let him.
The 3-year-old stormed off -- and vanished.
When Holger was still missing at lunchtime, his parents called the police, sparking an intensive search.
As news of his disappearance spread, hundreds of members of the public also fanned out to help search the area, Tranum Klitplantage, in north Jutland.
Police got an unprecedented number of calls offering assistance, commissioner Poul Badsberg of North Jutland police told CNN.
In the end, they even sent out an ice cream truck, hoping that Holger would hear its bells and follow the sound.
The search continued Monday morning, and then the news broke, in the form of a shout as CNN affiliate TV2 was broadcasting live.
"They found him?" reporter Cathrine Reinert asks, though it couldn't be clearer from Jacobsen's face what he's been told.
"They found him!" the policeman shouts back.
The boy was found by a member of the public on horseback 4 to 5 kilometers (2.5 to 3 miles) from the place where he was last seen, Badsberg said.
He was in good health and good spirits, the police commissioner said.
Holger was reunited with his weeping parents, and his mother, Heidi Kragh, carried the tired, slightly bewildered-looking boy into an ambulance to be taken to a hospital for precautionary tests.

  12. CIA operating in Libya, in consultation with opposition
    By The CNN Wire Staff
    March 30, 2011

The CIA is operating in Libya to help the United States increase its "military and political understanding" of the situation, a U.S. intelligence source said Wednesday
There has been growing discussion over whether the coalition will arm the opposition and provide training on the use of effective weapons systems.

Despite the continuing protests and the dead leading the rebellion in Libya, President Gaddafi still on the throne, deaf to the cries of the people required to leave office after years and years of dictatorship.

The people of Libya wants to get rid of this dictator who dare affects more people, and regardless of the causes also provokes a war with countries that do not tolerate violence. The U.S. delegation is deeply concerned by these events that have impacted the world.

It is important, and more importantly needed in every country in the world not only within their respective governments, but in their political and cultural activities respect the rights of every citizen, so that each country to avoid having an internal conflict and so not reach a point as they lived through the Libyan delegation.

  14. While the world's population tripled in the 20th century, the use of renewable water resources has grown six-fold. Within the next fifty years, the world population will increase by another 40 to 50 %. This population growth - coupled with industrialization and urbanization - will result in an increasing demand for water and will have serious consequences on the environment.

Already there is more waste water generated and dispersed today than at any other time in the history of our planet: more than one out of six people lack access to safe drinking water, 3900 children die every day from water borne diseases (WHO 2004). One must know that these figures represent only people with very poor conditions. In reality, these figures should be much higher.

It is all the more critical that increased water use by humans does not only reduce the amount of water available for industrial and agricultural development but has a profound effect on aquatic ecosystems and their dependent species. Environmental balances are disturbed and cannot play their regulating role anymore.

As the resource is becoming scarce, tensions among different users may intensify. Over 260 river basins are shared by two or more countries. In the absence of strong institutions and agreements, changes within a basin can lead to transboundary tensions.. The Parana La Plata, the Aral Sea, the Jordan and the Danube may serve as examples. Due to the pressure on the Aral Sea, half of its superficy has disappeared, representing 2/3 of its volume. 36 000 km2 of marin grounds are now recovered by salt.

But as night fell Sunday, as temperatures dropped to near freezing and rain began to fall, there was no sign of him.
For the record, he was wearing his coat

There are four {different} music algorithms which {translate} an {icon's light frequencies} into {distinct} musical {processes}. {Looking} at one of them would {sound} a note, {staring} at it would {change} its pitch. {Working} on the {same} principal, the other {icons allows users} to {activate} and {manipulate} rhythm, volume and speed. The {patient} not {only enjoyed using} the system but also {found} it {interesting}. There is {enough evidence now} to {suggest} that music therapy in general {really} does {work} for people with all kinds of {disability}. It {helps motivate} the {patient} to engage in their {wider rehabilitation}. {Researchers found} that {listening} to music following a stroke can {improve} cognitive {ability} and are {now looking} at brain-computer interfacing (BCI). The {big issue nowadays} is {trying} to {increase performance} of BCIs in {terms} of their speed and accuracy. 22. Crippled Japanese plant's reactors to be decommissioned, chief says
Tokyo (CNN) -- Radioactive iodine at more than 3,000 times the regulatory limit has been found in ocean water near the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. Officials did not pinpoint a particular cause for the higher readings, and it was unclear whether a leak had already occurred or if the elevated levels resulted from airborne radiation. Tuesday's levels are the highest seen since a massive earthquake and subsequent tsunami knocked out cooling systems at the plant March 11. The elevated levels would only be worrisome if they persist for a longer period of time, experts said. Water has been a key weapon in the battle to stave off a meltdown at the facility. "They have a problem where the more they try to cool it down, the greater the radiation hazard as that water leaks out from the plant," said Jim Walsh, an international security expert at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The fire department was called, and "we confirmed the smoke generation stopped" after the electricity to the power panel was shut off, the company said. Tokyo Electric said no sign of fire was found and no radiation was released. The growing damages could have a steep price for Tokyo Electric as farmers and others impacted by the disaster ask for compensation. Workers were sleeping in conference rooms, corridors and stairwells on leaded mats intended to keep radiation at bay, safety inspector Kazuma Yokota said Tuesday.

  23. Venezuela's Chavez receives press freedom award in Argentina

Chavez received the Rodolfo Walsh journalism award from Argentina's Universidad Nacional de La Plata "for his unquestionable and authentic commitment to support the freedom of peoples."

Chavez accused large media outlets of "manipulation" and said that in Venezuela today, there is "more freedom of expression and the press than any time in our history."
Telesur has been championed as an alternative voice to privately owned media conglomerates, but also criticized for its one-sided coverage of Chavez.
Journalists and politicians in Argentina criticized the choice of Chavez as the award recipient, claiming that he has continually worked to silence his critics and suppress freedom of the press throughout Venezuela.
The award ceremony in Argentina came two days after protesters prevented trucks carrying Argentina's two largest daily newspapers, Clarin and La Nacion, from leaving the printing press. The action further inflamed an ongoing feud between Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and the Argentine media, which she has accused of unfairly criticizing her administration
"The Argentine government needs to take immediate measures to sanction this disregard and violation of a judicial ruling that constitutes an attack on freedom of the press," said Claudio Paolillo of the Inter American Press Society.
Kirchner skipped Chavez's award ceremony at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata -- which she and her late husband, former Argentine President Nestor Kirchner, attended in the 1970s -- to meet with U2 frontman Bono. According to a government spokesman, Bono asked Argentina's support in developing medical vaccines to eliminate diseases like malaria and for Kirchner's help in encouraging fellow G-20 leaders to demand that oil and mining companies publicly reveal their financial status.

Employment still remains high, applicants for jobs have been desilutionated by the lack of works, so many people accept the first job offer, and this could cause problems because some works are worse for mental health.
Peter Butterworth, examiner at the Center for Mental Health said that moving from unemployment to a casual work does not portray benefits respecting to mental health, this may be worse than unemployment.
A survey in which was described the mindset of the participants along with their employment situation was made. To study, investigators centered on 4 important characteristics: complexity, demands of work, job security, understanding and control of work.
The unemployed, who find out a job where they are highly rated, reported an improvement in mental health. By contrast, those newly hired for low-paid and insecure jobs, reported a sharp drop in their mental health, including depression and anxiety.
Although some work jobs tend to be tranquilizing, the work’s environment tends to have a surprise on mental health; this is also influenced by bad bosses. As a solution, there could be a more positive psychosocial environment at work.

  27. Obama rolls out plan to cut oil imports

"The United States of America cannot afford to bet our long-term prosperity and security on a resource that will eventually run out,"

Washington (CNN) -- President Barack Obama outlined a plan Wednesday to cut America's imports of foreign oil by a third by 2025 -- a response to growing global energy demands and instability overseas.
The president's proposal relies primarily on increased domestic production, conservation, and a shift to biofuels and natural gas.
Among other things, Obama said he will push for an increased use of natural gas in trucks and buses, as well as the construction of commercial-scale biofuel refineries over the next two years. The president also announced that he is directing the federal government to ensure that all of its vehicle purchases are alternative fuel, hybrid, or electric cars by 2015, a new fuel efficiency standard will be proposed for heavy-duty trucks, he added.
Nevertheless, the president stressed, America will have to increase its domestic oil production. Thirty-nine new shallow-water drilling permits and seven deep-water permits have been approved since tighter regulatory standards were imposed in the wake of last year's Gulf oil disaster, he noted.
Some conservative critics have accused the administration of doing little to stop rising gas prices as part of a strategy to speed a transition away from fossil fuels.
Energy Secretary Steven Chu dismissed those claims Wednesday, arguing that he he doesn't "think anyone can seriously consider that anyone in public office, especially the president, is cheering on" high gas prices.

Libya was implicated in the fatal bombing at a West Berlin nightclub that left one American service member dead Gadhafi has a substantial number of enemies within Libya, his use of the county's enormous oil revenues to provide subsidized health care, education and housing to citizens.
